We have a sustainable mission to complete. It is our aim to create a fully natural and circular way of growing plants, vegetables, seeds both in the homegrown as the professional market. We achieve this by using only 100% natural ingredients in our products. The waste of industrial grown hemp is our base, so all of our grow media are made from 100% natural fibres. After composting, all our products contribute to a healthy and fertile soil. In this way, the products of Terrafibre Europe contribute to a CO2 zero emission society. Therefor, our hempfibre growing media is a great product!
Terrafibre grow cubes are growing medium of pure hemp that is used for seeds and seedlings to germinate to a very little plant. An all natural growing media for starting seeds or transplanting cuttings made from industrial hemp. Terrafibre growing cubes combine two parts of the industrial hemp plant to provide an ideal growing environment. Bast fibres are high in water holding capacity and provide the strength for roots to attach to. Hurd is the larger “woody” fibres that increase air porosity in the cube..
Terrafibre growing cubes are a sustainable alternative to rockwool cubes, peat moss, or coconut. Hemp is primarily farmed for its seed and the stalk/fibre is traditionally wasted. Through innovative processing and heat sterilization we are able to upcycle the fibres to create a truly sustainable growing media.
Our growing cubes are completely biodegradable and compostable. Hemp fibre is an incredibly strong fibre so will take 1-2 years to break down completely. Add to garden soil to help break up clay soils and increase water absorption.
As already mentioned cubes can be used for seed starting. The ideal seed for our cubes are lettuche or herbs like basil, parsley. This kind of crop perfectly grows in an aquaponic system. In such a system the fish produce the nutrients for the water. Ingenius technical filters are used to get the perfect nutrients and watering for the seeds in the cubes. The growth time of the vegatables will be about 50 days.
However, cubes can also be used in professional hydroponic systems or at home in a greenhouse. So green growers of all kind can use our cubes.
Take the little cube and soak or wash it with Ph adjusted water/nutriënt solution. Place the seed or cutting in the hole of the growing cube. Place in warm humid environment until the seeds germinate or cuttings take root. It’s important to moisture the cubes in the right way. As soon as the cubes dry out moisture it. Transplant once true leaves are established or roots penetrating cube into our hempfibre blocks to establish a further growing. Or you can add them to garden soil to help break up clay soils and increase water absorption.
Besides cubes which are normally used for a short term growing cycle (up to three months) we also have hempfibre blocks and slabs. However, these products are mainly used for the more long time growing cycles as do for example tomatoes. Therefor, the growing medium has to hold for 9 months.
Hemp cubes give root growth enough space so roots can shape freely. Cubes are first placed on a tray in constant water. Once true leaves are established the cube is placed in a nutrient water reservoir to follow up the growing process. In this way seeds and plants maintain propagation.
We sell by online stores and platforms different kind of cubes and of different dimensions. The weight of a cube is very low. We have in stock:
We sell to any European country. So start shopping now! Shipping from our logistic center is on a daily basis. We order our products in Canada and ship them in a container to us.
Our cubes are completely biodegradable and compostable. Hemp fibre is an incredibly strong fibre so will take 1-2 years to break down completely. You can add them to garden soil to help break up clay soils and increase water absorption. The cubes are easy and clean to work with. If you like to work on a sustainable environment and food production process you might choose our hemp cubes above the rockwool cubes.
Our Terrafibre cubes can be compared to the Grodan rockwool cubes. These cubes are made of stone wool which is not biological and not decompostable. They are pollutants to the environment if they are not recycled. Rockwool, a light weight hydroponic substrate, is made from spinning molten basaltic rock into fine fibres which are then formed into a range of cubes, blocks, growing slabs. Rockwool isn’t biodegradable. It is currently disposed of in landfills despite concerns of increasingly limited space.
